Going to See the Fat Man

So...somehow a post I wrote last week about going to see Santa at an Autism Connection of PA event, posted without my knowledge.  Well, to be fair, it posted when it was supposed to post over at Childswork.com...it just sort of slipped from my mind.  So yesterday, slaving away for the man, I didn't even glance at it, or twitter, and it just sort of sat there and gathered dust and wondered forlornly whether it's daddy was going to visit it.

I feel so bad.  I'm sorry, post...daddy's going to visit you today, I swear.

Going to see Santa; going ANYWHERE really, requires some planning for us.  It's more than just hopping in a car and standing in line, and it is for most of the people that read this blog too.

Here's how WE do it:

"A Visit to St. Nicholas"

As a special preview of one of the tips...I'll give you a spoiler.  "Take lots of pictures".

  1. YAY! More photos!

Am I correct in assuming from these photos that Emma did NOT sit on Santa's lap?

Bold choice. And correct. Young Amy refused to do so, much to the distress of her parents. (And now, later in life, their merriment. "Remember how you used to be so scared of Santa?" "USED TO BE? STILL, you guys. Stop mocking my pain.")

  2. She's "too big" to be seen with Santa. Might wreck her rep...

  3. There can never really be too many pictures of Santa and your kiddos...

  4. I wish that just ONE of my kids would love Santa as much as I did as a kid. We can barely walk past the Santa display at the mall w/out one of them freaking out. Although, after my creepy run in with Santa on Sunday, maybe I can understand why...

    Glad the girls had fun!

    1. I loved Santa...but the fakers that came to christmas concerts and school events were SO clearly not Santa I never liked them.

  5. I was a such a Santa hater as a child. My mother said she was mortified (one of many times, I'm sure) when I was about three. We were at the grocery store, and the checkout girl asked me what Santa was bringing me for Christmas. I apparently took the opportunity to school someone who was five times my age, at least. And everyone within hearing range.

I never took my kiddos to see Santa. My in-laws did, though, and thankfully, never had a problem. My kids are usually laid back, and seeing Santa was a 'meh' experience for them.

    1. It's about the pictures...and manufacturing memories of feelings the kids never actually had.
