Lily loves music AND dancing and we'd been watching A&E's version on DVR for a month. I really think being close to the edge freaked her out.

Even if it turned out that your daughter COULDN'T handle it, there were lots of great places to take her to cool down, get some sensory input, get away from the crowd...

Next time!Jimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11538573774184028004noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6873182308469051103.post-23355046186941076522014-02-18T14:28:31.432-05:002014-02-18T14:28:31.432-05:00Just read your blog on the ABOARD winter newslette...Just read your blog on the ABOARD winter newsletter and found your blog site for the first time. I'll be back here! But I really wanted to thank you for posting your less-than-perfect-but-perfectly-real-life experience of the ballet. It makes me sad that our family couldn't attend. And we couldn't attend because we had already booked a room at an indoor waterpark (which beats ballet hands down at our house), but also because a part of me said, "Nope - that will never work with our daughter." I think next time, we'll give it a try. Thanks!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08287177400084784293noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6873182308469051103.post-44704138005105994312014-01-15T15:02:07.354-05:002014-01-15T15:02:07.354-05:00This makes me want to move to Pittsburgh. But, what a great thing you've got going there!

I wonder if the slightly different pitch to the balcony felt weird to Lily? I'm not a fan of balcony seating either.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6873182308469051103.post-63281062345691934922014-01-13T11:37:55.918-05:002014-01-13T11:37:55.918-05:00I think she liked it once she made her peace with ...I think she liked it once she made her peace with the elevation.Jimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11538573774184028004noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6873182308469051103.post-30603811187746861162014-01-13T11:37:38.591-05:002014-01-13T11:37:38.591-05:00It frightened me a little too...It frightened me a little too...Jimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11538573774184028004noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6873182308469051103.post-47650578416559167862014-01-04T10:20:28.897-05:002014-01-04T10:20:28.897-05:00I am so happy and excited that Lily got to see The...I am so happy and excited that Lily got to see The Nutcracker on stage. *\o/*Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6873182308469051103.post-12063111769882454042014-01-04T02:20:37.634-05:002014-01-04T02:20:37.634-05:00wordpress ate my commentwordpress ate my commentAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08722324887506288502noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6873182308469051103.post-51359929003877272312014-01-03T21:05:21.989-05:002014-01-03T21:05:21.989-05:00I think your holiday comment is the key for attend...I think your holiday comment is the key for attendance - I had to attend a bunch of shows around the holidays to review (and a couple just to attend - yep, I still see shows for fun, because I'm a crazy!) and turnout's traditionally low that time of year. People have so much going on. Also, it's ballet - we had a ballet come through here a few months ago, won a lot of awards on Broadway (it was a touring show) and it didn't do half as well as most of the shows that come to that theater. Ballet scares people. (Scares me a little, too. I'm not at all a dance person.)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6873182308469051103.post-73758555047027603592014-01-03T15:15:07.811-05:002014-01-03T15:15:07.811-05:00Awesome!Awesome!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03096925220151469703noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6873182308469051103.post-25392591104059654032014-01-03T14:51:54.208-05:002014-01-03T14:51:54.208-05:00"PBT proudly offers discounted tickets to thi..."PBT proudly offers discounted tickets to this performance, which range in price from $13.50-$43.75. Were the ticket prices the same as they would be for a regular performance or was some of it offset by a local Autism society? I'm just thinking that might have also affected the attendance. Our local Autism society here will pay part of tickets for special zoo days or sensory friendly movies. It definitely helps with the attendance and for those who can pay full price and attend, they can donate it back to the society.
